The COVID-19 situation continues to impact people around the world. We continue to monitor government and industry announcements and it is heartening to see so many stepping up and responding to this unprecedented situation.
As you may have heard, the Governor of Washington announced on Monday, March 23rd a “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order for all residents and businesses in the State of Washington. This order includes a ban on all gatherings, and closures of many businesses, unless those businesses are essential to the healthy functioning of our community or are able to let employees work remotely from home.
The safety of our employees and their families is of paramount importance to Montigo Fireplaces. For this reason, we have elected to temporarily halt production at our Ferndale, WA location. Given that our customers are still operating in many areas of the United States and Canada, we will be maintaining a limited workforce to enable shipping of essential equipment from our Ferndale facility. In addition, we are enabling certain other employees to work from home, if they are able.
At our Langley, BC, Canada facility we are continuing to operate. We are taking precautionary measures that will help protect our employees, their families, our supply chain partners and our customers, and to assist in the global effort to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
- We have implemented a temporary non-essential travel ban for all of our employees. We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes to this policy as needed.
- Our procurement team is working with our suppliers to minimize disruption of raw material and component supply for our production facilities.
- Our OHS teams are reviewing our standard sanitary control practices and upgrading where necessary.
- The Human Resources department has issued guidelines and reminders to our employees relating to health, sanitation and self-quarantine protocols if they are symptomatic, have been in a high-risk area or if they have been in proximity of someone infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
- We have also enabled certain of our office employees to work remotely to reduce the number of employees working in close proximity.
The Montigo Fireplaces team is committed to supporting our customers and business partners throughout these uncertain times. Our customer service, tech support and sales teams will continue to provide the support you have come to expect from us. It is also our intent to minimize any supply disruptions as much as possible.
